Maternity FAQ's

When is the best time to schedule maternity photos?

Generally between 32 to 36 weeks is best but every momma is different. Once you see that rockin' baby bump appear, you're ready so it's best to schedule your shoot between the 32 to 36 week period while knowing we can always adjust the date depending on how your baby grows.
What should I wear to my maternity session?

I want you to feel beautiful and comfortable so it's good to choose clothes that inspire you to feel your very best in your maternity photos. I really love to capture your gorgeous form so choosing outfits that accentuate your baby bump is recommended!

I like to make things easier on my clients by offering access to our luxury gown closet, which is optional and a small fee added onto your session fee. This includes your choice of a stunning gown or dress from our collection!

Try to avoid tank tops, but if you do wear one it's good to bring a cardigan or long jacket to layer over it. Solid, neutral colors work best, but whatever makes you feel most like yourself is a good choice. I'll send over some inspiration boards to help you prepare and get excited for the shoot!
Why invest in professional hair and makeup?

Professional hair and makeup DO make a difference in maternity photos.

I know this is a beautiful but stressful time in your life. Hiring someone to do your hair and makeup for your shoot is a wonderful way to pamper yourself, so that you don't have to worry about it.

If this isn't in your budget, stores like Ulta and MAC can be helpful. If you do your own makeup, date night makeup will be a beautiful look for the camera. A little extra blush is also great for the camera!
But I am feeling insecure about how I look during my pregnancy and I'm not sure if I want my photos taken?

This is a very natural and normal feeling that most mommas-to-be experience, especially with their first pregnancy. You are growing a little baby inside of your body and with that comes a lot of changes to your own body. Through my lens, I see these changes as absolutely miraculous and gorgeous. My number one priority as a professional photographer is to make you feel and LOOK your best during our time together. So rest assured, you will look absolutely gorgeous in your photographs.
Where does my maternity session take place?

We can discuss choosing an environment that is most inspiring to you. This could be where you got engaged, a favorite park or any other place that has special meaning to you. We also offer in-home and studio location sessions for an additional fee. I'm always happy to offer location suggestions or take reign!
Newborn FAQ's

When should we schedule our newborn's session?

The best time to schedule your session is before your little one is born. This way you can rest assured that your newborn photoshoot will occur within 2 weeks of birth, the best time to get the sweetest photographs! My weekly calendar fills up quickly and I only take on a limited amount of newborns each month. Let's make sure that we have your session on the calendar before the birth so that you don't have to think about it once baby is born. You can schedule your appointment Monday-Friday right here!
What time should we schedule our newborn's session for?

It all depends on your little ones particular needs. A sleepy baby with a full tummy is a happy baby! Be sure to schedule your session time right around when baby usually needs their nap. Also be sure to feed them right before coming into the studio, if possible. This will ensure our session goes smoothly and efficiently.
How soon should I have my newborn's session after giving birth?

The sooner the better! Newborns tend to stay sound asleep a few days after birth and because of this I am able to gently move your little one into sweet poses. After a couple of weeks, this is not easy to do. After the fourteen day mark babies begin to stretch and poses won't be as easy to accomplish.
How much time should my newborn session take?

Your session should take anywhere between 1 to 3 hours, depending on the type of session you book. Pausing to allow times for breastfeeding and changing. The atmosphere is very relaxed and comfortable and the pace of our session will be determined by the baby.
My baby is already born. Am I too late to schedule a newborn session?

If I have an opening in my calendar I am happy to accommodate. Most often, however, I'm booked out months in advance. Also, I really love to take newborn photos at 5-10 days after birth. After that, some of the most adorable poses aren't easy to achieve.
How should we dress baby for our photo session?

No need to worry. A wardrobe of outfits, hats, headbands, wraps and props are provided by me. You'll be sent a questionnaire after booking where you'll help customize your perfect newborn session!
What happens after my session?

After your session we'll discuss when you can expect your photos to be available for viewing in your online gallery. Together we will schedule a time 2 to 3 weeks after your session date for your reveal and viewing session.
How much do newborn sessions cost?

Your newborn session fee includes your session time and 30 uniquely edited images for you to review during our in-person viewing session! That's where you'll be able to select your favorite photos and purchase prints. For more detail on pricing, check out our "Investment" tab.
